"The Popular Party opposes Yecla electoral reform done behind the backs of citizens" (14/07/2015)

On the occasion of the "urgency" that have shown the opposition groups in the Regional Assembly for the reform of the electoral law in the region of Murcia, the Municipal People's Party in the city of Yecla he has filed a motion to be debate in plenary of our City.

The opposition groups in the Regional Assembly intended to undertake an urgent reform of the electoral law in our region.

We know and are aware that this reform is necessary, but we're not sure of is whether to have such urgency as these groups seek to impose.

The Popular Party could have reformed the law on many occasions during the last twenty years and yet did so because it considered that this law should have the consensus of all political forces.

We did not go to assess the merits of the law on this project but we come many questions Are the municipalities far from the capital will lose representation in the Regional Assembly?

Do we walk with this alleged reform towards increased centralization in the region?

Do we do with this reform the law closer to its citizens?

Is it necessary to further deepen the reform in the ideological burden of the Regional Assembly against the proximity and territorial representation?

These are all issues we raised and we believe really important for the law to be a long haul.

All must be answered with the participation of citizens, experts, technicians, political scientists and sociologists who issued their reports and provide its opinion to the necessary consensus would be beneficial and as demanded by much of the population of the Region Murcia.

And finally what we really care about is that you do not want to have the opinion of Murcia when reforming this law, aiming to reform society behind and leaving the road demands as patents in today's society consensus, dialogue, closeness and involvement of society.

For all this we want the Full Council of Yecla ask the Regional Assembly to seek all necessary reports in the different expert advice of our region, and also have obtained the views of the public before imposing, urgently The reform of a law that if everything goes in a normal way, affect us in the elections of 2019.
