Meals at home for elderly and dependent people in extreme need (17/03/2015)

The Department of Social Policy, which offers this service for 7 years, has managed to increase the number of meals served, since the last contract, taking more cases of people who are in extreme need

The City of Yecla maintains a meals on wheels service for more than seven years ago, aims to serve elderly and dependent, as well as individuals or households at social risk, as reported by the Councillor for Social Policy, Remedios Lajara.

The service, which has an annual budget of 33.833 euros serves a dozen people at home receiving a full menu adapted to the nutritional needs of each.

Remedios Lajara stressed "the work done by technicians of the Center for Social Services that have managed effectively manage existing resources to the various programs and social services."

Thus, the councilor explained that the current contractor Meal service delivery, improved bid 300 additional meals free of charge, available to the City Council.

Following a report by social services technicians have been awarded these additional meals to new users of this service, most in need of attention.

Recipients are selected according to rules and scale established in the home help service and Complementary Measures home help.

Users often find themselves in situations of extreme necessity, difficulties or family problems such as single parents with children in their care, major health problems, lack of social or family support or hard to access basic necessities among other situations.
