Yecla is done in a workshop on digital photography applied to the graphic documentation of rock art (23/01/2014)

Confirmed the attendance of twenty specialists from various universities and research centers of the country.

The Department of Culture, through the Municipal "Cayetano Mergelina" Archaeological Museum of Yecla (Maye), has organized in collaboration the Center for the Study of Prehistoric and Rock Art of the Region of Murcia: Course-workshop advanced digital photography applied to graphic documentation of rock art, and to be held in Yecla from 24 to 26 January 2014.

The course, which is coordinated by Liborio Molina Ruiz, director of the Archaeological Museum, will be held in the Municipal House of Culture in morning and afternoon sessions, conducting practices on Sunday January 26th at Cantos Visor (Monte Arabi).

The course has the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Directorate General of Cultural Assets of the Region of Murcia, the Mediterranean Basin Rock Art World Heritage Site.

UNESCO and the Ministry of Education and Culture through the Department of Fine Arts and Cultural Assets and Libraries and Archives.

The staff teaching the course is formed:

José Pereira:

Diploma in Conservation and Restoration of BC by ESCRBC of Galicia and Master in Audiovisual Documentation from the UC3M.

Author www.jpereira.net website and various publications and tools environment to digital imaging and graphic documentation of heritage.

Has almost 15 years experience in fields ranging from conservation and restoration, digitization and graphic documentation.

Juan Francisco Ruiz:

Doctor UNED, Department of Prehistory and Archaeology.

It specializes in the research and documentation of prehistoric graphic productions, field that has been working for almost 20 years.

Keeps lines of research in scientific dating of rock art in the use of archeometric techniques and digital documentation of rock art.

Miguel St. Nicholas:

Head of the Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Region of Murcia.

His long experience in matters relating to the management, conservation and documentation of rock art make it a

reference in these matters.

To date they have confirmed their attendance at the course twenty specialists from various universities and research centers of the country.

The purpose of this course focuses on providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to not only make an image as close as possible to reality, but also to give that image of sufficient importance for it to be presented as scientific evidence I can help increase awareness of rock art.

To this the student will be introduced in both the technological foundations of the digital image, and workflows for the design and implementation of quality control during the process of editing and capture.

Their purpose is to adjust our work quality thresholds and optimal precision, which practically usable during the fieldwork and, a posteriori, in cabinet work.

From a peripheral to capture own work and image editing view, will also address the cataloging, archiving and ultimately digital preservation.

This is essential to ensure not only access to data, but also our understanding of graphical documentation in a future time.
