Yecla in the Eighth Assembly of the Network of Cities for Climate (01/07/2013)

The Councillor for the Environment, Jesus Verdú Assembly attended the VIII Spanish Network of Cities for Climate, held in Valencia.

A wide range of experts, environmental technicians and representatives of local governments from all Spain committed to the environment, came together in the Exhibition Palace of the city of Valencia to celebrate this national meeting, promoted by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.

In the development of the Assembly were approved unanimously, the Operating Rules of the Network, the Work Plan for 2013 and the proposed working draft for 2014.

After the Eighth Assembly of the Network of Cities for Climate and prior to the conclusion of the training day "Climate Change Opportunities for Local Governments," Secretary of State for the Environment Mr

Federico Ramos de Armas, and the President of the Network of Cities for Climate DN Uriol María Ángeles Muñoz, Mayor of Marbella, proceeded to sign the financing agreement between the Network and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

Convention endowment maintaining and showing the commitment of the Ministry to the corrective measures of climate change, ensuring the financing of the activities and projects promoted by the Network of Cities for Climate.

Verdú Jesus explained that this meeting discussed "the latest developments in the fight against climate change nationally and internationally, as well as sharing the latest environmental news and initiatives undertaken by local governments that make up this network" .

During the conference addressed issues such as the objectives of Spain in climate change, climate change seen as an opportunity, and funding opportunities in actions related to climate change and mitigating its impact on the environment.

Environment Councillor recalled that the city of Yecla, part of the Spanish Network of Cities for Climate, is making a major effort to reduce emissions and electricity consumption adjustment, actively participating in the project Medeea, aimed at achieving the commitment acquired 20-20-20 signing the Covenant of Mayors

In this regard it is noteworthy change the draft water heating system and heating swimming pool deck, replacing the current oil boiler supplied by a biomass boiler, as well as projects to improve schools and envelope likewise boiler replacement by others that use cleaner fuels.
