Responsible for Agriculture and Water said the DO Yecla wines produced "from a careful selection of grapes and a perfect process."

According to Cerdá, Yecla wines "are fruity and fresh," and are made by the Monastrell, which is the main variety of grapes for wine grown in the region.

He added that its offer "very diversified" and allows productive zone "to reach different markets and respond to their demands."

In this regard, he referred to organic production in this area that has now reached the 2,000 hectares.

He stressed that the wines of Yecla "are being very rewarded and recognized by prestigious winemakers," and noted that the municipality "has a strong culture of wine and winemaking route is a great addition to the attraction of the municipality."

Yecla Denomination of Origin covers an area of ​​6,150 hectares of vineyard, located within the limits of this municipality, and eight warehouses attached to the Control Board, as well as 570 affiliated growers.

The Yecla wine production is 6.3 million liters of wine annually, of which 90 percent is exported, mainly to Canada, USA, Denmark, UK and Germany.
