The new facility houses a music education center with 23 classrooms and 8 cabins, a rehearsal for choir and orchestra, a recording studio and an auditorium with 150 seats

The president of the Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, today inaugurated the Casino Primitivo de Yecla, fundamental building of historical and cultural heritage of the Region of Murcia, in which rehabilitation regional government has invested two million euros.

During the visit, the president was accompanied by the Minister of the Presidency, Pedro María Reverte, the Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, and the mayor of Yecla, Juan Miguel Benedito.

The rehabilitation of this building, one of the most representative buildings of local architecture, has been carried out following the agreement signed between the two councils and the town of Yecla, which represented a total investment of 3,349,826 euros.

The Chief Executive noted that the Casino Murcia Yecla Primitivo "recovered all its glory and is once again a place of reference for all yeclanos, for cultural activities."

In addition, he said, is an example of the "close" cooperation between local and regional administrations.

The improvements have been allowed to return to its original splendor in this nineteenth century building, declared a Cultural and a fundamental part of the cultural and historical heritage of the town and put up the various rooms to house the new center for Music Education.

Historic building

The building, centrally located in the town, inside houses 23 classrooms and 8 cabins for individual lessons and not instrumental, and the practice of chamber music, in addition to a rehearsal for choir and orchestra , plus a recording studio.

It also has an auditorium for performances and rehearsals for a capacity of 150 people.

Furthermore, the ground floor, which rises around a central courtyard, are the reception area and concierge, library with music library and the administrative area and service staff.

Primitivo de Yecla Casino was designed in 1888 by architect Justo Millán, author of the first two rehabilitations of Murcia Romea Theatre, and during the first third of the twentieth century was built as a center of culture in the district of Plateau.
