You can vote online is the best proposal to renew the environment accessible from Jumilla (24/02/2011)

This is a European project that the General Directorate of Land develops at the entrances of the N-344 at two locations in the Altiplano

Citizens and can vote on which proposal they prefer to improve the environment surrounding the road access from Jumilla.

The initiative covers an area four miles long, from the town to just beyond the crossing of the ring, and up to two miles wide, from the Cerricos de la Fuente and Magdalena until Castillejo.

Occupies a total area of over 500 hectares.

The vote, which is open until 9 March, has been convened by the Directorate General of Planning of the Autonomous Community, which has also initiated the same process to reform the adjacent space access from Yecla Jumilla.

With these actions are seeking management and treatment of the urban landscape of the approaches to the N-334 at two locations in the Altiplano.

As explained in the contest, the initiative aims to "soften the industrial nature of the spaces in these accesses and increase their kindness by the nature of the planned future road park on this road" between Yecla and Jumilla.

A call for the competition were presented half a dozen of technical proposals, which are the citizens and can vote on the page entitled by the General Directorate of Land: www.concursodeideasyeclayjumilla.es

The projects will be finally voted on the Internet valued on 22 March by a jury that will announce the best proposal.

This program is part of the European project PAYS.MED.URBAN responsible for promoting "experimental landscape management proposals on changing areas, using processes that involve public participation of citizens in the transformation of the local territory."

The Directorate General of Land and Housing to take part, along with fourteen other regions and institutions of the Mediterranean Basin, this project which promotes European "high quality of the landscape as a key element in the sustainability and competitiveness of Mediterranean urban areas."

Through this program have already launched several initiatives to improve different environments within the European Landscape Convention.
