[IU-Greens asks the Plenary to support the regional bill to combat endometriosis (16/12/2020)

| United We can have presented a bill to the Regional Assembly with the aim of improving knowledge and treatment of endometriosis, a disease suffered by approximately 10% of women of childbearing age | Last November, United We can present in the Regional Assembly the Proposal of the Law of Visibility, Diagnosis and Comprehensive Treatment of Endometriosis in the Region of Murcia. Izquierda Unida points out that endometriosis is a chronic disease that, according to the Ministry of Health, consists of "the implantation and benign growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus." The ailment has a very variable severity, since it has asymptomatic manifestations, but also serious prognoses in the form of cyclic painful symptoms or, in some cases, even permanent infertility.

In this sense, from training they indicate that it is an ailment suffered by between 7% and 15% of women of childbearing age.

However, they denounce that endometriosis is unknown by most of the population and, even today, there is no definitive cure. Alberto Mart nez, spokesperson for IU-Verdes, points out that “despite the fact that the disease is very common and can have serious consequences, hardly any resources are allocated for its treatment and research”.

Therefore, the left-wing councilor defends that "it is time for public institutions to stop abandoning women who suffer this disease in silence, the approval of the bill presented by United We can improve will the lives of many women throughout the Region of Murcia ”. For all this, from Izquierda Unida they have asked the plenary session for the month of December that the Yecla City Council urge the Regional Assembly to approve the bill.

They also demand that the council participate in the activities organized on March 14 on the occasion of World Endometriosis Day to raise awareness in society.

And, finally, they request that awareness campaigns be promoted in Yecla.
