The Association of Friends of Music of Yecla, informs that Juan Manuel Palao Pérez, percussionist of our Band of Music, has obtained the Second Prize of the III Contest "Young composers of the Region of Murcia" with his work "Impressions on a past life ". The III Composition Contest "Young Composers of the Region of Murcia" was convened by the Composition Department of the Professional Conservatory of Music of Murcia, and was intended for all students of the Professional Degree of Music of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia interested in the world of composition. In this third edition the Contest has had a high participation and a jury made up of three professors from the Higher Conservatory of Music of Murcia: Francisco Javier Pérez Albaladejo, Francisco José Rico Becerra and Brian Santiago Martínez Rodríguez. In May, the 4 finalist works were announced and on October 31, the jury's decision was published.
Being the work of our colleague: "Impressions on a past life" for alto saxophone and piano, the winner of the Second Prize. Juan Manuel himself has had the deference to describe its composition: "This composition describes the story of a person who wakes up in another previous life: The first movement has a mysterious and slow character, showing the feelings of that person who feels confused, lost and curious; the second movement is a ballad that transmits much peace, with a very fluid and light speech between the sax and piano.
In this part, the protagonist realizes that the life in which he is immersed is better than the one he has in the present.
Finally, the third movement it has a much more rhythmic character, with a fast tempo and a harmony that surrounds us in a jazzy style.
The person is forced to return to their present life, having to accept reality ".
