The Butlers Association continues to work despite the current situation (05/11/2020)

Once communicated, more than a month and a half ago, the suspension of all the "acts of ordinance" that make up the historical ritual on which the Fiestas de la Virgen de Yecla are based, the Association of Mayordomos has continued working in order to adapt the different activities that are usually held in the weeks leading up to December, always putting the health security of everything that is going to be done and what is then realized as the main premise.Since last night, in the Clock Tower of the Plaza Mayor you can see an "Allegorical Mural" of the Festival of the Virgin that has been made with the main purpose of paying a symbolic tribute to those acts that, this year, are not They are going to be celebrated and to create awareness that, despite this, we keep in mind the Festival of the Virgin and, especially, our Patron.

This mural has been made in the studio of the Yeclano designer José Azorín, who already made the poster announcing the Festival of the Virgin in 2018 and was one of the architects of the documentary "Arca, camino al mar" commissioned by the Association of Butlers for the commemoration of the 375th anniversary of the start of the Festival of the Virgin, in 2017.The Butlers Association would like to express our sincere thanks to the author for this new selfless collaboration. On the other hand, even in spite of the non-celebration of the ordinance acts that make up the ritual of the Festival of the Virgin or the main pre-party acts, the Association of Butlers is going to edit the "magazine-program" that, for decades, it has become a sociocultural reference in Yecla.

This year's edition will be somewhat more austere than that of previous years, it will not have the part dedicated to the festival program but will have an important set of collaborations that give it the cultural and social interest that has always characterized this edition.

In addition, there will also be a special edition, shorter than usual, of the magazine "El Yeclano Ausente" that will be sent, as usual, to all those Yecla who do not live in our city.

Both documents will be presented,If the situation allows it, next November 15 at the Juan Miguel Benedito municipal auditorium where, with the legal compliance with the allowed capacity and the corresponding security measures, the prizes of the literary contest "Fiestas de la Virgin 2020 ".In a different vein, this year some masks will be made that have been commissioned from the Yecla Gobik company, which markets them under its Maask brand.

In addition to being for everyday use, they have been designed with the purpose that this is the "official mask" of the soldiery.

Each member of the association will receive one free of charge (along with this year's "magazine-program") and they will be made in both adult and child sizes.

They will also be put on sale to anyone who is interested in their acquisition.

The masks comply with the UNE 0065 standard, which is the only official standard that regulates reusable hygienic masks in Spain.Currently, the Board of Directors of the Association of Butlers is working on a deep remodeling and enhancement of the Mariano Museum.

Since its inauguration, more than 20 years ago, it has served as a fundamental tool to spread the idiosyncrasy of the Festival of the Virgin as well as the special devotion that the people of Yecla pay to their Patron.

After two decades, the museum is going to be renovated and updated.

A thorough review of what has been exposed will be undertaken and, as a major novelty, the oldest flags that have been used in the Festival of the Virgin since the end of the 19th century will be exhibited and that represent one of the most precious treasures with those counted by the Butlers Association.

Further,An audiovisual room will be created where a brief explanatory documentary about the origin and development of the Festival of the Virgin will be screened.

Finally, an audio guide system will be generated through which any visitor can take a guided tour using their own mobile. Finally, from the Association of Butlers we want to thank the great interest that the people in general have shown for the decisions made about the Festival of the Virgin and encourage all those people who are having a hard time so that they can overcome the disease as soon as possible.

possible.

We also want to have a special memory for those who have not managed to overcome this disease.

In addition, we call on society to take extreme precautions in order to minimize the spread of the virus.

With the help of Our Lady of the Castle, we will surely succeed.
