Virginia Lopo: "El Arabí remains unprotected without a use and management plan due to the disinterest of the regional government" (06/08/2020)

The regional deputy Virginia Lopo announces that she will present an interpellation to the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and the Environment, Antonio Luengo, to explain why the Arabí still does not have a use and management plan to protect him Virginia Lopo declares that "the Socialist Party of the Region of Murcia will always be together with the residents of Yecla and will use all means at its disposal to defend the protection of Mount Arabí from the institutions." He adds that "the Arabí is one of the most important places in the Region, both from an environmental, cultural and social point of view." Its high value made it recognized as the first Natural Monument of our Community.

"The protection of Monte Arabí is an issue that transcends Yecla and that worries all men and women in the Region of Murcia." The Socialist deputy recalls that on September 20, 2017, the Murcia Regional Assembly unanimously approved a motion, at the proposal of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, which urged the regional government to urgently develop and approve a plan for the use and management of Mount Arabí , taking into account the contributions of the City of Yecla and social groups such as "Salvemos el Arabí". He denounces that "three years later we still do not know anything about the Arabí management use plan." "The regional government has failed to fulfill its commitment to protect Mount Arabí and, due to its disinterest, is in a situation of greater vulnerability," he affirms. Lopo announces that when the activity of the registry of the autonomous parliament resumes in September, he will present an interpellation to the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and the Environment, Antonio Luengo, to explain "why three years have passed and the Arabí still does not have Has your use and management plan been drafted and approved? " The regional government of López Miras has the powers to protect our natural heritage, including the Arabí.

"Once again they demonstrate their contempt for the environment and their inability to comply with what was agreed and approved in the Regional Assembly," he concluded.
