Yecla citizens request that a motion approved in 2017 be launched, to open school playgrounds during non-school hours (22/06/2020)

| The current situation of social distancing and sanitary recommendations for outdoor activity, make it necessary today more than ever the expansion of public spaces | On February 6, it was three years since a motion presented by Ciudadanos was approved in a plenary session of the Yecla City Council and unanimously proposed the launch of a Project that aimed to open the courtyards of the schools outside school hours, on holidays and summer, so that the children and young people of our municipality can enjoy spaces where they can develop sports or leisure activities outdoors. With this proposal, it was intended to be able to use underused municipal facilities, promote sports and outdoor activities, offering healthy alternatives and thus prevent these spaces from being used irregularly, with the danger that this entails.

In addition, it was intended that in the centers where the initiative will be carried out, there would be a monitor to supervise the correct use of the facilities and to be in charge of opening and closing them, also generating employment.

This went ahead with the support of the entire corporation.

But today, three years later, nothing has been done. The current situation, caused by the health crisis of COVID-19, has forced our way of socializing to be subject to maintaining distance and hygiene standards to which we have had to adapt in recent weeks.

In addition, to follow recommendations such as that they be developed, as far as possible, in open spaces and outdoors, where the spread and permanence of the virus in the environment is much less.

This shows the need for open public spaces that offer distance guarantees and, above all, security for the user.

"That is why at Cs Yecla, we believe that our proposal is more necessary today than ever, for the expansion of open spaces available in the urban area. Thus giving the possibility to children and young people to develop activities and interact outdoors, with security and guarantees, thus avoiding possible crowds in green spaces within the city.

" They claim from the Orange formation.
