Advice for the population about rumors about the new coronavirus (COVID-19) -

- Can eating garlic help prevent infection with the new coronavirus?

Garlic is a healthy food that may have some antimicrobial properties.

However, there has been no evidence that eating it protects against the virus causing the current outbreak.

- Does the new coronavirus affect only the elderly or can it also affect the younger ones?

The new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) can infect people of all ages, although older people and those with certain diseases (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease) have been found to be more likely to become seriously ill when they acquire the infection.

The WHO advises people of all ages to take steps to protect themselves from the virus, for example through good hand and respiratory hygiene.
