The VI Cycle "Literary Cities" will pay tribute to José Luis Castillo-Puche for the centenary of his birth (21/01/2020)

The Department of Culture has presented the program of the VI cycle 'Literary Cities', organized in collaboration with the Castillo-Puche Foundation.

This year the Yeclano writer José Luis Castillo-Puche will be honored for the centenary of his birth.

The cycle will begin on January 28 at 8:30 p.m. in the municipal auditorium 'Juan Miguel Benedito Rodríguez' with the presentation of the seventh issue of the magazine Hecula by the professor of the Autonomous University of Madrid Óscar Barrero and the professor of the University of Murcia José Belmonte.

The publication will be a monograph on José Luis Castillo-Puche.

Next, a literary meeting will be held with the writer Carmen Posadas, winner of the Planeta Prize in 1998 for her novel 'Pequeam infamias', Culture Award of the Community of Madrid in 2008, Camilo José Cela Award for Journalism in 2011 and Iberoamerican Prize for Journalism 'King of Spain' in 2017, among other awards.

On February 3 at 8:00 p.m. in the auditorium 'Pablo Corbalán' of the Municipal House of Culture will be held the conference 'The cities of Cervantes' by the professor of the University of Murcia Francisco Florit.

On February 5 at 7:45 p.m. in the same place will be screened the film 'Soldiers of Salamis' by David Trueba, based on the novel by Javier Cercas of the same name.

It will be presented by film critic Joaquín Val.

On February 10 at 8:00 p.m. in the auditorium 'Pablo Corbalán' of the Municipal House of Culture José Belmonte will present the conference 'La América (from end to end) of José Luis Castillo-Puche'.

In the same place and at the same time on February 12 will be the member of the Spanish Association of Literary Critics Ángel Basanta who will offer the conference 'La Galicia de Álvaro Cunqueiro (and mine)'.

Repeating schedule and location, on February 14 there will be a recital of poems by Julia Castillo-Puche by the Yecla Poetic Circle.

The VI cycle 'Literary Cities' will close on February 18 at 8:00 p.m. in the municipal auditorium 'Juan Miguel Benedito Rodríguez'.

The re-edition prepared by the publisher La Fea Burguesía of the work 'As sheep at the slaughterhouse' by José Luis Castillo-Puche will be presented and the documentary on his figure 'The imagined reality', produced by the Entire Foundation, will be screened.

The Councilor for Culture, Jesús Verdú, thanked the work of the Castillo-Puche Foundation and the support of the entities and people who collaborate in the 'Literary Cities' cycle.

In addition, he has invited all Yeclanos to attend the scheduled events.

Finally, he has revealed that in the next dates the documentary 'The imagined reality' will be released in Murcia and that work is being done to present it at the Circle of Fine Arts in Madrid.
