In this way, the Ministry starts the last section of the A-33 motorway that will allow Murcia and Valencia to connect through the interior, reducing travel time by 25 minutes between both towns

The Ministry of Development has begun the construction of the A-33 Highway, Section: Link with RM-424 to Yecla - Link with N-344 in Caudete, with a budget of € 88.81 M and 16 km in length.

In this way, the Ministry of Development starts the last section pending starting on the A-33 motorway.

The completion of the construction of the A-33 motorway will be a very interesting alternative for trips between Murcia and Valencia in the interior, since the length of the route between Murcia and Valencia will be established at 212 km, compared to 258 of the route Current along the coast, assuming a saving of 46 km and 25 minutes in travel time.

With the completion of the A-33 together with the future Northwest Arc of Murcia there would be a transfer of traffic from the Mediterranean corridor of the A-7 and AP-7 towards the A-33 in the traffic with origin / destination Valencia and Andalusia that already they would not have to go through the metropolitan area formed around the cities of Alicante and Murcia, reducing their congestion and improving road safety.

The new stretch of highway begins south of the town of Yecla, where the A-33 highway connects provisionally with the RM-424 regional highway and ends connecting with the next section of the A-33 west of the town of Caudete, Currently under construction.

The work has begun with preparatory actions: topographic staking, signaling, site preparation and affected services.

Technical characteristics:

It is a highway of 120 km / h of project speed, with 2 roads, with 2 lanes of 3.5 m, right shoulder, 2.5 m, left shoulder of 1 m, outer berm of 1 m and medium 10 m

In the section two links are projected to connect with the autonomous roads RM-424 and RM-425.

The project includes 21 structures, which are distributed in 4 viaducts, 5 overpasses, 11 underpasses and a wildlife pass.

As a technical novelty the project includes the construction of a rigid firm of continuous reinforced concrete instead of the traditional firm with bituminous mixtures.

It is a pavement executed in 2 layers: the first of 19 cm of concrete HF-4,5 and the second of 5 cm of concrete HF-5,0 to form the rolling layer with aggregate of high resistance to polishing.

The previous 2 layers would rest on a 15 cm layer of lean concrete.

The project requires the execution of service roads that guarantee accessibility, permeability of the territory, and the continuity of agricultural and neighborhood road networks.
