IU-Verdes requires the regulation of large photovoltaic installations in our municipality (23/07/2019)

The formation of lefts requires the Mayor that the City Council take measures to prevent the destruction of the environment in our municipality due to the uncontrolled installation of large photovoltaic fields.

IU-Verdes denounces that, with the legal regulation in force, it is possible to install solar power plants in much of the municipality of Yecla without any order.

The training explains that this situation is mainly due to the fact that the General Urban Planning Plan dates back to the 80s of the last century and at that time the existing photovoltaic installations in Spain could be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Thus, this type of infrastructure would not begin to proliferate until the beginning of the present century and therefore could not be taken into account at that time.

The roji-green party explains that they are not positioned against photovoltaic energy.

In this sense, they believe that it is an energy that must be encouraged to end the generation of energy produced by polluting systems such as energy produced by combustion thermal power plants.

However, they consider that the environmental impact produced by the installation of these infrastructures on habitats must be minimized.

In this sense, they argue that its uncontrolled location based on mere economic interests can cause more environmental and visual damage than is intended to be avoided.

Thus, Izquierda Unida claims that it is not necessary to go far to see how the installation of a solar plant in Yecla, in the Herrada del Manco, has caused the disappearance of an endangered species due to its inadequate location.

The formation of lefts states that in the month of May the naturalistic association ANIDA registered in the City Council a document entitled "Proposal for the management of photovoltaic installations in the municipality of Yecla", written consisting of a list of proposals to approve ordinances regulatory or in

Failure to include it in the new wording of the Municipal General Planning Plan (PGMO) to avoid further environmental damage.

IU-Verdes defends that these measures would grant legal security to the drivers of new plants and at the same time establish an adequate environmental protection regime to reconcile the existence of these infrastructures with the conservation of the natural environment.

However, Izquierda Unida denounces that the Government Team still does not publicly state the actions taken and their position on this issue.

For all these reasons, the leftist party has registered a request to the Mayor with the following requirements:

1-To order the technical services of this City Council to study the legal options to regulate by means of ordinances or through appropriate municipal legal instruments the installation of this type of infrastructure, as requested by ANIDA in its document "Proposal for the management of photovoltaic installations in the municipality of Yecla ".

2-That also transfer the document of ANIDA to the drafting team of the PGMO for its study and incorporation into the General Plan.

3-That publicly inform the public about the actions carried out by the Government Team to protect the environment from the uncontrolled proliferation of these industrial plants.
