Yecla hosts the 'XX Regional Meeting of Families' (27/10/2018)

All associations of Mental Health of the Region of Murcia grouped in the Federation Mental Health Region of Murcia have met on Saturday October 27 in Yecla to celebrate the "XX Regional Meeting of Families."

An event in which more than 500 people gathered and ended with a giant paella after an intense morning of activities in the capital of the highlands.

From Caravaca de la Cruz to Yecla

The "Regional Meeting of Families" has a dual purpose: to bring together people with mental health problems, their families, volunteers and professionals who work day by day in the different associations of all the points of the Region of Murcia to share experiences and examples of overcoming, but also to strengthen ties and show the strength of the associative movement of Mental Health in our Autonomous Community.

Each year it is an association of the Region that organizes the meeting as hostess with the Mental Health Federation Region of Murcia.

In 2017 it was AFEMNOR, in Cehegín and Caravaca de la Cruz, so all Mental Health also promotes the municipalities that make up the Region of Murcia.

This year 2018, the AFEMY Altiplano Mental Health Association from the hand of the City of Yecla, have taken the witness.

A Regional Meeting of Families full of activities

The "Regional Meeting of Families" began in the first hour with the distribution of handkerchiefs commemorating the twentieth edition and an act of welcome in the Parque de la Constitución with the greeting of the Director General of Public Health, José Carlos Vicente, of the Mayor of Yecla , Marcos Ortuño, the Presidents of the Organizing Entities, Delia Topham of the Federation and Joaquín Marín de AFEMY, the Regional Manager of Mental Health, Mª Asunción De Concepción, the Regional Deputy, Yolanda Fernández and other regional and local authorities who accompanied us in this day of meeting of the great family of mental health.

Immediately afterwards all the attendees had a secret yeclana cake, a moment to take kilometers;

Historic route through the main monuments of the city;

visit to the Archaeological Museum and the most significant churches;

route of the traditions with the visit to a furniture factory, Cooperativa de Vino "La Purísima" and "Peña del Arao";

or the leisure area for the more relaxed.

In the dining area, shift to the workshop of "paper" typical of the Fiestas de San Isidro, a small tournament petanque, dance workshop to learn and entertain and popular games of Yecla.

And all together again, around a huge giant paella with which there was the transfer of the Flag of the Mental Health Federation Region of Murcia that revealed that in 2019 will be the Asociación Mental Salud Bajo Guadalentín AFEMTO the one in charge of organizing the next meeting.

The Regional Meeting of Families has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the City of Yecla, the Murcian Health Service, the IMAS and especially the dozens of volunteers and organizations of the municipality of Yecla who have supported us in all activities.

Thank you!!

Currently the Mental Health Federation is composed of 13 federated associations spread throughout the regional territory that, in total, represent some 1,800 families.
