Yecla Mayor Meets with President of the Community to study the economic crisis in the municipality (08/07/2009)

Yecla Mayor, Juan Miguel Benedito, accompanied by Councilwoman Employment and Training, Guadalupe Santa, met with the President of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, the Palacio de San Esteban.

The main objective of this meeting is marked by the joint analysis of the current economic crisis being experienced in Yecla and the search for measures to help alleviate this situation, within the powers assigned to both administrations.

In the meeting participated also the Spokesmen Municipal People's Party, Mark Ortuño, and ALCEY Group, Felipe Ortuño.

Yecla is one of the most dynamic cities and industrialized of the Region of Murcia.

However, the current situation of generalized crisis is affecting an alarming rate in this county, stalling production and trade, causing the closure of local businesses and 20% unemployment among the working population.

At the meeting this morning, representatives of the Municipal Corporation yeclana have exposed local projects and initiatives undertaken to create jobs and stop the destruction of jobs in the municipality.

On the other hand, have requested specific assistance to the furniture sector, as the implementation of a renewal plan in which consumers have tax rebates on VAT to renew the furniture in your home for more than ten years old or the credit agreement "soft" for the purchase of furniture.

On the other hand, representatives of the Municipal Government Team have highlighted the need to enhance the competitiveness of Yecla, through an urgent improvement in communications infrastructure.

Municipal projects for job creation

At the meeting in the Palacio de San Esteban de Murcia, have explained some of the measures implemented by the Department of Employment and Training Yecla City Council for the promotion of employment, mainly relating to training and mentoring projects, promoting and employment promotion, and a strategic review of the local economy.

These initiatives included the creation of employment workshops and Special Plan for Employment, for services of general interest and social and competition strictly municipal.

It has also created a Business Incubator for Women Entrepreneurs, as a public space for training, guidance and employment counseling, legal and tax start-up companies run by women.

Through the Local Employment Centre for Youth and the Local Employment Center for Women have made initial vocational training programs, actions Guidance for Employment and Self-Employment Assistance.

Moreover, from the Office of the Red Point SMEs located in the municipal and under the Institute of Development, provides information and advice to small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurs.

In terms of job creation has signed an agreement with AMUSAL, which seeks the promotion of employment through the creation of social economy enterprises and the development of a Strategic Study of Local Economy, which set the eye to be directed future projects and actions on economic and labor Yecla.

Finally we should mention the LEADER initiatives and RADAR, aimed at the promotion of rural areas, to achieve increased competitiveness of the agricultural sector, improving the environment and rural areas and diversification of economic activity in these areas .
