Located northeast of the Region of Murcia, Yecla DO was granted in May 1975.

It has more than 7,000 hectares of vineyards, 95 percent occupied with Monastrell grapes as majority and most characteristic variety, which accounts for 85 percent of the total.

This vineyard is owned by about 1,600 growers.

It produced around twenty-five million kilos of grapes in normal years.

In the DO Yecla serve eleven wineries, of which nine are bottlers.

Marketing sum around ten million liters, eighty percent for export, sold in nearly forty countries.
