CETEM reveals some of the projects they are working (15/04/2009)

Develop software for a robot capable of varnishing furniture without intervention of an operator, using computer vision for a machine to recognize the position of a part or improve the adhesives used in furniture manufacturing are among the preferences research technology center located in Yecla.

The Furniture Technology Center (CETEM), belonging to the Network of Technological Centres in the Region of Murcia promoted by the Institute of Development, wants to prove that is turned to the promotion of R + D + i in the sector, revealing new challenges rushing through projects usually carried out in collaboration with other enterprises, and their impact by improving production processes in the furniture industry and time to market of end products, must put technology Murcia in a privileged place.

Among CETEM preferences are bringing innovation to companies in the furniture sector, causing that they see an opportunity in R + D + i to be more competitive.

They are therefore working on specific projects such as developing innovative software that makes it easier to program a robot when varnishing furniture.

Thus, dramatically reduced processing times and therefore the final product price.

Similarly, CETEM is carrying out the project Iadapta Real Face, with the help of artificial vision, get a machine can start work if the need to tell the exact position of the workpiece to be processed.

For the realization of both projects, CETEM with funding from the Ministry of Universities and Research Company.

Apart from these projects that will directly affect the costs of companies, the technology center is also committed to innovation in products reaching the consumer.

Hence the project is being developed ENCCANTO, which aims to develop new formulations of adhesives for singing to improve existing properties, and consequently, the quality of their own furniture.

This project, which is funded by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, is being carried out in collaboration with the Laboratory of Adhesion and Adhesives AU.

All of these projects in the Furniture Technology Center works also aim to transfer technology derived from the same solutions to companies in the sector, thus promoting and encouraging their development and continuous improvement.
