Development Minister presides over the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the motorway between Yecla and Jumilla (17/12/2014)

The Minister of Development, Ana Pastor, presided over today in Yecla the laying of the foundation stone of the works of the A-33 Yecla-Jumilla, which when completed, will allow cutting the journey between Murcia and Valencia at 46 kilometers and 11 minutes drive from the Altiplano today

The works have been divided into three subsections and budget of the three contracts awarded work amounts to 69 million euros, the first of 7.3 from the link with the N-344 in Jumilla to the local road MU-26- A;

7.5 second from the local road MU-26-A to the next intersection with the same road, and the third, 8.6, from local road MU-26-A to the regional road C-3223 giving access to Yecla.

The Mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuño, said that "the beginning of these works is a historic day for Yecla and all yeclanos. The highway connection will be the decisive impulse to consolidate our city as a business reference. The work began at a time when the ability to make investments by the different public administrations have been reduced. All this gives more merit if possible at the beginning of this important investment that denotes the sensitivity and commitment of the Government of Spain to undertake this infrastructure so in compliance with the historical demand yeclanos, who took 25 or 30 years asking for improving roads in our town "

According to the ministry, this book will capture most of the traffic long and halfway to allow more comfortable, safe and efficient driving, and prevent the passage of vehicles cruises industrial area of ​​Los Romerales in Jumilla, The Farmhouse and Fuente del Pino, thereby improving the quality of life in these places to reduce noise nuisance or pollution and increase road safety.

It is hoped also that when the A-33 is completed constitutes an attractive alternative for travel between Murcia and Valencia through the interior, bypassing Alicante.

The three works contracts define a stretch of highway redrawing 23.4 kilometers between Jumilla and Yecla.

The highway will have 2 lanes 2 lanes of 3.5 meters each, separated by a median of 10 meters, 2.5 meters wide outside shoulders and interior of a meter and a meter berms.

The design speed is 120 km / h three links, one with the N-344 road, at the beginning of subsection 1, which allow access to the town of Jumila be built;

another at kilometer 10,600 to RM-A26 road, half of subsection 2 and the third in the 17,100 point with the RM-A26 road in subsection 3.

At the end of the section, in Yecla, building a gazebo provisional included with the C-3223 road that accesses the town of Yecla, while eastbound carriageway does not have continuity with the next leg of the A-33 " Yecla - Link A-31 ", which is in the pipeline.
