The City of Yecla celebrates the feast of its patron, St. Roque - 2014 (14/08/2014)

The celebration of Mass and the traditional procession with the statue of St. Roch, are the main religious events that the city of Yecla has organized for Saturday, August 16, 2014, feast of St. Roque, under whose patronage is the Municipal Corporation and yeclano consistory.

The Eucharist will be celebrated by the pastor Marcelo Felquer in the chapel of San Roque, at 19.30.

After Mass, the traditional procession with the statue head will pass through the streets around the church of San Roque.

After the procession, attendees will be presented with the typical drinks lemon water slush and water barley;

refreshing flavor and traditional summer will be offered at the door of the chapel of St. Roque to end the festivities, courtesy of the City of Yecla drinks.

The popular celebration in honor of San Roque will be attended by the mayor, José Antonio Hernández Muñoz, accompanied by the spokesperson and Town Planning, Personnel, Traffic and Public Safety, Juan Miguel Muñoz Zornoza and Alderman Consumer and Immigration Ricardo Vargas Jesus Duque.

Recall that the hermitage of San Roque is next to the park of the Constitution and the Church of San Francisco, recently converted into a new cultural landmark of the city after a complete renovation.

The hermitage of San Roque is a small building with a single nave with arches and wooden coffered twofold with Moorish decoration.

It is dated to the fourteenth century, making it the oldest temple of Yecla.
