The City will save nearly 88,000 euros in annual consumption of electric lighting of the city (14/11/2011)

The Department of Public Service has implemented a set of energy saving measures, adjusting the time on and off and adjusting the existing voltage regulators, which represents a 16.8% reduction in electricity consumption

The Department of Public Service has implemented a package of energy saving in the electric lighting of the city that will mean an annual saving in electricity consumption of almost 88,000 euros, equivalent to a reduction of 16.8% in electricity consumption.

The measures taken since April of this year have included setting times on and off and adjusting the existing voltage regulators.

Thus there has been no implementation cost of these measures.

These adjustments have not resulted in a reduction in service, there has been no discomfort or insecurity.

It has been shown that in some areas electric lighting was excessive, and in most of the city, after certain hours of dawn, you can run half the existing public lighting, since the use of public roads is almost null

These savings also translate into environmental benefits.

This stops emitting into the atmosphere a total of 169 tonnes of carbon dioxide or avoided producing 181 grams of radioactive waste.

The Department of Public Service intends to continue investing in those lighting boxes have not yet flow regulators, along with other facilities that will allow us to apply these cost-saving measures throughout the town, further reducing the power consumption bill .
