The City Council takes steps to reduce 12.5% ​​lighting bill (24/03/2011)

In certain areas are left under lamps lit from a time when its use is less necessary

To do no harm to neighbors, measures are being implemented only in areas where there are no houses or small step transients

These provisions are expected to save at least 12.5% ​​of the total bill for public lighting, which is about 45,000 euros less per year

The City Council increased saving measures in public lighting to reduce the bill by 12.5 percent as a minimum.

Now left in some areas less lamps lighted from a specific time and increases the period of reduced consumption every night beginning at 23.00 hours.

These provisions allow a saving of about 45,000 less per year, representing 12.5 percent of the bill that the City pays for street lights each year.

Initially, the savings measures will affect only roads, industrial areas and areas where almost no homes or are not used by pedestrians.

In any case, no spaces in the dark.

Later, according to the results obtained in these early areas for action, the action could spread to other areas of the city to further increase savings.

In particular, the reduction of power flow is applied to the lighting of the streets of San Pablo and La Paz I and II in the roundabouts of the Slaughter and Fair Avenue, in the polygons Urbayecla industral of Phase A, Urbayecla I and II, Las Teresas I, II and III and La Herrada Caudete road and Villena, len Ronda Sur and in the hills of Santa Barbara.

Also apply additional measures such as turning off some streetlights, after a certain hour in some areas of the southern ring road, the road of Villena and the industrial estate Las Teresas.

When such arrangements have been taken into account some peculiarities as the use of certain spaces for athletes during the night.

These measures will add paulatimamente others, such as the modernization of the lamps with new lighting systems, such as LEDs, with which energy expenditure could be reduced by another 30 or 50 percent.
