Utilities Councilman remember that individuals can continue to deposit their rubbish in the eco-park

The Director General of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control, Francisco Espejo, checked this morning the state of sealing and restoration works of the Escombrera Municipal landscape.

During his visit has been accompanied Utilities Councilman Antonio Puche.

The works, which will end in March, have involved the subject of the slopes of the landfill and the unification of surfaces and shrinkage of the heap, and end with the discharge of soil with seeds to set the new ground.

On completion of the work, the area may be used as public space by citizens of Yecla.

In particular, it has acted on an area exceeding 50,000 square meters (equivalent to about five football fields), which have moved over 75,000 cubic meters of earth and inert materials.

It has also enabled a drainage of 1,800 meters and will eventually include about 900 kilos of seeds of different plant species.

In total, explained the general director, the action has brought more than 430,000 euros fully invested by the Autonomous Community.

Mirror recalled that this initiative is in compliance with European Union provisions requiring the contractors to remove debris generated to allow recycling.

Under these provisions had to take the decision to close the dump to enable other collection point discharge according to the new rules, which must be managed privately, since the City Council has no powers in this area.

In this sense, the general director has shown the willingness of the regional administration to assist enterprises in Yecla in generating a new point of discharge.

INDIVIDUALS IN THE DEBRIS CAN PUT ECOPARQUE

Councilman Utilities pointed out that individuals can shed up to 100 kilos of rubbish per person, vehicle and Ecoparque day, which is located in the Industrial Las Teresas.

It is also intended to enable a new eco-park or green spot to double the chances of collection of all sorts of urban solid waste, which do not belong in the collection and traditional containers.

The closure of old dumps, where the continued pouring your leftover building without any kind of separation is taking place in other nearby towns in the region, and Jumilla, Abanilla and Fortuna.

A year ago, according to a Royal Decree of 2008, construction companies should be responsible for the separation of debris generated by materials (concrete, bricks, tiles and ceramics, paper and paperboard, metal, wood, glass and plastic).

These materials are recovered for resale and reuse, which involves the generation of a new business, hence the search for private management of a new treatment plant, and that the City is not allowed to carry out this activity.
