According to the report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA) on the marketing of protected appellations of origin of wine, Yecla is the DO with the highest export quota in our country.
92% of the production of the nine wineries registered in Yecla goes to international trade, inside and outside the European Union, with a total of six and a half million liters commercialized.
In the EU, Yecla sells almost three million liters of its production, with Denmark being the first export destination with 1.5 million liters.
Germany is far behind, where eight hundred thousand liters are sold, followed by the United Kingdom (276,500 liters) and Belgium (130,800 liters).
Outside the EU, the main destination for Yecla exports is the USA with almost nine hundred thousand liters, followed by Canada, which demands more than seven hundred thousand liters.
In Asia, Japan is the main consumer of our wines, almost half a million liters, followed closely by China, with nearly four hundred thousand liters sold.
In Spain, Yecla markets 8% of its production, half a million liters in total, of the 6.5 million liters sold during the 2016/2017 campaign.
Among the 90 Spanish DO's, Yecla is located in volume at position No. 27, with a total of 6,511,800 liters.
The president of the DO Yecla, Pascual Molina, has valued these data very positively "since they reflect the extraordinary work carried out by wineries abroad".
