Constituted the commission sponsored by the City (30/09/2016)

Consideration as a World Heritage Site could be a big international recognition and promotion for our festivities

It has been constituted the Institutional Commission for processing the application to UNESCO of the Declaration of the Feast of Our Lady of Yecla as a World Heritage Site.

This is a commission sponsored by the City of Yecla, chaired by the Mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuño, which are part of the councilman of Culture, Jesus Verdu, and representatives of local groups.

On the other hand there are the chairs the Association of Butlers, the official chronicler of the city, Miguel Ortuño and the Director of the Municipal House of Culture, Liborio Ruiz, as secretary.

Consideration as a World Heritage Site is a distinction awarded by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) that could be a big international recognition and promotion for our festivities.

In addition, it would generate funding for projects that promote conservation, from the Fund for the Conservation of Heritage.

In the session of constitution, the secretary of the institutional Commission informed of the work done in previous months by a working committee to study and advise, composed of municipal technicians, representatives of the University and the Association of Butlers.

This commission is preparing a draft document to mark the lines of work, planning and budget that will be presented in late October to institutional commission for possible approval.
