The Scout Song Festival will gather 1,500 youngsters from all over the Region in Yecla (08/05/2019)

Yecla will host this weekend the Festival of the Scout Song 2019. Organized by the Federation of Scouts Explorers of the Region of Murcia, will gather 1,500 young people from 34 scout groups from throughout the Region.

On Saturday, May 11 from 12:00 hours the day will open with the presence of the mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuño, and various activities will be held until 4:00 pm, when they will go to the Plaza de Toros, where it will take place the Festival of the Scout Song.

Eight groups will perform and dance their own songs before a jury, which will decide the winners.

After the awards ceremony, young people from 14 years old will enjoy a festival with the performance of the yecano group of ska rock Rokavieja.

On Sunday, May 12, they will celebrate St. George's Day with various activities: they will visit the rock paintings of the Arabi mountain, conduct an orientation race or practice climbing in the Sierra de la Magdalena, according to age groups.

At 4:00 pm on Sunday the event will close.

The Councilor for Youth, Jorge Ortuño, considers "an honor that Yecla has chosen in this edition" and points out that it is a unique opportunity for young people in the city to get to know the scout movement.

The president of the Federation of Scout Scouts of the Region of Murcia, Daniel López, thanked the collaboration of the City of Yecla and explained that although the activities will be closed for scouts, they will be happy to receive local youth associations and AMPAs that want to know firsthand the scouting movement.
