In October 2016, the Municipal Group of IU-Verdes registered a request asking for the cleaning, maintenance and adaptation of the different public channels of our city.

The competition on this matter depends on its location.

Those located in the urban area are the responsibility of the local administration, while those outside the hull depend on the Segura Hydrographic Confederation.

Once again, we find that two years have passed and the situation is just as complicated.

So much so that, in the face of serious events in Mallorca, the Segura Hydrographic Confederation has announced that it will clean the ravines of the Region.

For this, it has budgeted 200,000 euros, which, according to the media, will be invested practically in the Mar Menor area and others that require more urgency.

We can understand that, before the possible cold drop that approaches us, the expense is prioritized in some areas, but not that it ignores ours, which has not been properly maintained for years.

In Yecla we have the problem that there are several channels that neither the municipality nor the confederation is responsible for, since it is not clear who is responsible for its maintenance.

Specifically in these areas where more weeds and dirt accumulates without anyone acting to prevent it.

There is the possibility, as established by the law of the National Hydrological Plan, that an agreement be signed between the Ministry of the Environment and the regional and local administrations to finance these actions.

We understand that in the exposed matter it would be the best solution to avoid greater evils.

To conclude, the GM of IU-Green asks the Government Team to provide us with information regarding the maintenance of these channels, especially those that depend on the Confederation and that have been without maintenance for several years.

Also, we see it necessary to clean up the water channels that run through the urban area, such as the Castillarejos.
